"Castlevania: Lord of Shadow" is a great game. Damnably difficult in certain respects -- I'm looking at you, hated Lord of the Lycans -- but very much in the spirit of the series once you get past the immediate similarities to "God of War." Konami and developer MercurySteam announced last year that a pair of DLC packs are coming, entitled "Reverie" and "Resurrection," for release this year. Now we have a date, at least for the first pack: March 30.

The confirmation arrives alongside a new trailer which, while it doesn't show any gameplay, offers tantalizing hints of what to expect. "Reverie" is said to pick up after the events of last year's game, with Gabriel Belmont returning to help the fallen Vampire Queen's handmaiden. The DLC also apparently offers "a breath-taking twist," which may well be hinted at in the trailer, which ends with a female speaker -- presumably the handmaiden -- talking to Gabriel.

"Gabriel. I need your help. You destroyed the Lords of Shadow, but in doing so you have unleashed a greater evil. A powerful demon is coming. We are the only ones with power enough to stop him. You must become a creature like me. I am sorry. We have no choice."

Could Gabriel -- a Belmont -- be turning into a vampire?! How deliciously twist-y! "Reverie" unfolds across three game stages, but there's nothing more to add than that at this point. Though we already know from last year's announcement that "Resurrection" is the bigger of the two packs, and that it will feature the return of a "notorious enemy."
